DIGITAL RECORDING <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />Wednesday, January 3, 2018 <br />The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br />January 3, 2018, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br />CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with 2017 Council President Eric Younger <br />presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Michael Goodnow, Kevin Gorman, Leslie <br />Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. The Council District 4 seat is currently vacant. Also present were City <br />Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin <br />Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br />A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br />Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br />provided by Kurt Wiest from the Bremerton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. <br />COUNCIL OFFICER ELECTIONS <br />President Younger opened nominations for 2018 Council President. <br />Leslie Daugs nominated Eric Younger. <br />With no further nominations, President Younger asked for a vote by roll call. <br />By a unanimous vote, Eric Younger was elected Council President for the year 2018, and remained <br />seated as the Chair. He will also serve as Mayor Pro Tempore in absence of Mayor Greg Wheeler. <br />President Younger then opened nominations for 2018 Council Vice President. <br />Pat Sullivan nominated Richard Huddy. <br />Michael Goodnow nominated Leslie Daugs. <br />With no further nominations, President Younger asked for a vote by ballot. <br />Voted in Favor of Huddy: Sullivan, Gorman, Huddy, Younger <br />Voted in Favor of Daugs: Daugs, Goodnow <br />By a vote of 4 to 2, Richard Huddy was elected Council Vice President for the year 2018. <br />MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Wheeler provided welcoming remarks; and then brought forward... <br />• Milenka Hawkins -Bates, Operations Manager with the Public Works Department to <br />demonstrate a new "Public Works Customer Response" mobile application; and <br />• Cynthia Engelgou with the Parks Department to introduce Arts Commission Chair Garrett <br />Nobbs and Arts Commission Vice -Chair Jacquelyn Speare to talk about new utility wraps. <br />PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br />Mike Walton, Community Relations Director of the Kitsap Family YMCA, provided information on the <br />latest happenings at the "Y" including the Resolution Walk and Run Series. <br />Terry Fessner submitted a letter into the record to express his concern about the homeless persons <br />who leave trash and cause damage around local businesses. <br />Harriett Bryant expressed her appreciation for the partnership with the City and the Kitsap Regional <br />Library, and looked forward to celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. <br />
