DIGITAL RECORDING <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />Wednesday, May 3, 2017 <br />The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br />May 3, 2017, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT CENTER, <br />345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger presiding. Council <br />Members present were Richard Huddy, Greg Wheeler, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Pat <br />Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative <br />Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services Manager. Council Member Dino <br />Davis arrived at 5:50 PM following his attendance at the Puget Sound Regional Council's Economic <br />Development Board Meeting in Seattle. <br />A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br />Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the Invocation <br />provided by Fire Chaplain Joseph Tacconelli. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT OATH OF OFFICE CEREMONY <br />Interim Fire Chief Pat McGanney first introduced new Office Assistant Senior Sarah Tassano. <br />Judge James Docter then performed the Oath of Office for Promotions of Dean Souza to Captain <br />and Tom Stanley to Lieutenant; and for New Hires Dan Baker, Jake Bower, Geoff Burn, Nick <br />Dragovich, Pat French, Craig Griffin, Josh Murphy, and Ben Pocuis. <br />MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Lent... <br />• Read a proclamation to proclaim the Week of May 7 — 13, 2017 as "Drinking Water <br />Week'; which was accepted by Kathleen Cahall, Water Resources Manager, who then <br />announced a "Free Day" at the Kitsap Historical Society & Museum on Wednesday May 10 <br />in celebration of an exhibit celebrating "100 Years of Bremerton Water". Also, Sharon <br />Overman, Accounting Assistant II in Public Works was brought forward to display a quilt <br />she handmade in recognition of Bremerton Water's 100 -Year Anniversary; <br />• Thanked the community for giving so generously during the 2017 Kitsap Great Give!; <br />• Read a proclamation to proclaim May 4, 2017 as "Youth Night" in recognition of the <br />Benevolent and Protective Order of Bremerton Elks 1181 designating May 1 — 7, 2017 as <br />"Youth Week", <br />• Presented an Mayor's Employee Appreciation Award to Mitchell Irish, Wastewater <br />Treatment Plan Industrial Mechanic for saving the Wastewater Division over $15,000; <br />• Encouraged public comment at the Parking Study Open House to be held on Wednesday, <br />May 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the First Floor Meeting Chambers; <br />• Hoped the Community would come out for Bremerton Farmers Market Opening Day on <br />Thursday, May 4 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Evergreen Rotary Park; <br />• Announced the 36th Annual Disabilities Legislative Reception on Saturday, May 13 from <br />9:00 to 11:00 AM at McCloud's Grill House; <br />• Proclaimed May 20, 2017 as the 7th Annual "Kids -to -Parks Day" which was accepted by <br />Jeff Elevado on behalf of the National Park Trust; <br />• Jeff Elevado brought forward Bremerton Central Lions Club members who presented a <br />$50,000 check to be used by the City to purchase playground equipment for Lions Park; <br />• Announced all proceeds from the Blueberry Park Plant Sale on Saturday, May 13 from 9:00 <br />AM to 3:00 PM at Blueberry Park will benefit the Kitsap Master Garden Program; <br />
