DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, May 18, 2016 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order <br /> Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NoRnn DiCKs <br /> GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric <br /> Younger presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, <br /> Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger <br /> Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Council Assistant Christine Grenier; and Hans Nilsson with <br /> Information Services. <br /> A CouNC�� BR�EF�tvG was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Ken Rilev of New Life Church. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Accepted a check presented by Dale Holdren, President of the Bremerton Rotary <br /> Foundation, to be used for completing the pathway at the 911 Memorial; <br /> • With the $1500 won in a raffle at the last Bremerton Rotary Luncheon, she was pleased to <br /> present a $500 check to kick-start the Rotary Foundation's Endowment Fund, which was <br /> accepted by Mr. Holdren; and a $1000 check to the Bremerton Parks Foundation, which <br /> was accepted by President Sunnv Wheeler; <br /> • Proclaimed May 21, 2016 as "Kids to Parks Day", which was accepted by Mr. Elevado; <br /> • Congratulated Jeannie Vauahn, Community Development on her completion of a Master of <br /> Business Administration Degree at Western Governor's University; <br /> • Proclaimed the Month of May as "Building Safety Month 2016", which was accepted by <br /> Ms. Vauahn; <br /> • Thanked Jamie Forsvthe for beautifying her neighborhood with beautiful flowers; <br /> • Announced the Harvest Party on June 3 at 2:15 PM at Bremerton High School, which will <br /> include a Ribbon Cutting and donation to the Bremerton Foodline; and <br /> • Invited John Hanson, Bremerton Historic Ships Association; and Hollv James, Kitsap <br /> Entrepreneurial Center, to share details for the Kitsap Harbor Festival on May 28 and 29. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT BRIEFING <br /> Police Chief Steven Strachan used a Power Point presentation to highlight trends, statistics, <br /> and police activity for the Month of April and early May. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Walton, Bremerton Family YMCA, was proud that 480 3�d grade students have completed <br /> swim training; and shared information on upcoming events. <br /> John Hanson, Bremerton Historic Ships Association, stated that Bremerton will be represented <br /> at a tourism conference in New Orleans; and that a new commercial featuring the USS Turner <br /> Joy and downtown Bremerton will be featured soon on local TV stations and on Facebook. <br /> Teresa Osinki Kitsap Homebuilders Association, encouraged Council and the public to hire a <br /> registered contractor for their home improvement projects, and to contact the HBA for a list of <br />
