c���c�l <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING ' � „ p�.�a� <br /> o�d� <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES APR 6 ZO1� <br /> Wednesday, March 16, 2016 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> March 16, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry McDonald, Leslie <br /> Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; Acting City Clerk <br /> (Legislative Assistant) Lori Smith; Council Assistant Christine Grenier; and Kevin Matthew, <br /> Information Services Manager. City Clerk Shannon Corin was absent. <br /> A CouNci� BRiEFi►v� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Kurt Wiest, Bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints. <br /> Police Chief Steven Strachan presented a Recognition Plaque to Lieutenant Pete Fisher in <br /> appreciation for his years of service to the City of Bremerton from 1998 to 2016; and congratulated <br /> Lt. Fisher who will soon be the new Police Chief for the City of Fife. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Proclaimed March 21 to 25, 2016 as "Community Champions for Mea/s on Wheels Week" <br /> which was accepted by Deborah Horne, Executive Director for Meals on Wheels Kitsap; <br /> • Explained that Puget Sound Energy has a new mobile application to report power outages; <br /> • Was pleased to see Bremerton featured in a recent article "Hot Neighborhoods" in the Seattle <br /> Magazine; <br /> • Displayed a map which showed future ADA improvements planned for Warren Avenue and <br /> Wheaton Way; <br /> • Attended the Dedication Ceremony last Sunday, March 6 for a bench at Lions Park in memory <br /> of former Council Member Mike Sullivan; and Council Member Pat Sullivan shared the <br /> statement that she read during the ceremony; <br /> • Attended the Christening of the USS Washington on March 5 in Newport News, Virginia; <br /> • Invited the community to attend the Evergreen Boat Launch Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on <br /> Thursday, March 17 at 3:00 PM at Evergreen Rotary Park; <br /> • Announced that the Bremerton Mar�.na will be offering a buy one-year moorage, get one-year <br /> moorage free special through May i; <br /> • Invited the community to attend a Grand Opening for New Day Ministry on March 26 from <br /> 12:00 to 3:00 PM located on 6th Street up from the Main Post Office; and added that New Life, <br /> Mission House, and Seeds of Grace will also share office space in the building; <br /> • Announced the 25th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 19 starting at 11:00 <br /> AM at the corner of 6th Street & Pacific Avenue and finishing on 4th Street; and added that <br /> there will be a St. Paddy's Crawl from 5:00 to 10:00 PM in downtown; <br /> • Announced that the Annual Kid's Fishing Day will be hosted by the Kitsap Poggie Club on <br /> Saturday, April 23 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 4398 West Belfair Valley Road; <br /> • Mentioned that finro Dignity Memorial Veteran Benefits Programs will be held on April 7 and 21 <br /> from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home at 5505 Kitsap Way; and <br /> • Introduced Kurt Wiest, Executive Director for the Bremerton Housing Authority, who <br /> announced that applications for the Section 8 Housing Voucher Waitlist will be opening from <br /> March 14 through 27 online at www.bremertonhousinq.orq. <br /> • President Younger congratulated Mayor Lent for being honored as a 2016 Recipient of the <br /> Hyas Tyee Award to be presented by the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce on March 31. <br />
