CO����� <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING �,�:;,�.;�,; <br /> ���i:'..�� ; '� <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> FEB 0 3 ZOib <br /> Wednesday, January 20, 2016 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> January 20, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6'h Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry McDonald, Leslie <br /> Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; <br /> Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br /> A Coutvci� BRiEFirv� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Ron Anderson of Manette Community Church. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Shared that the City of Bremerton received a Certificate of Appreciation for the first time by Puget <br /> Sound Energy in recognition of the City's commitment to energy efficiency; <br /> • Encouraged residents who are considering home improvement projects to submit an application <br /> or contact the Kitsap County Community Development Department at (360) 337-7160 for more <br /> information and to see if they are eligible for a three-year property tax exemption; <br /> • Provided a briefing on the work being done in conjunction with the Port of Bremerton at the <br /> Evergreen Rotary Park dock; <br /> • Submitted a Press Release to alleviate concerns that the City does not share in any of the current <br /> concerns happening in Flint, Michigan related to lead in their drinking water; <br /> • Brought forward Mike Scott, Red Cross volunteer to report on a successful program this past <br /> year to install 144 smoke detectors, as well as service current smoke detectors for residents in <br /> the City; and for more information on the Smoke Detector Program or if you are a mental health <br /> professionals willing to volunteer to assist during an emergency response or to help train <br /> volunteers in mental health issues; please contact Dave Rasmussen at(360) 377-3761. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT BRIEFING — Police Chief Steven Strachan... <br /> Chief Strachan highlighted statistics for the Month of December '15 and to-date in January '16. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Gale Gillespie mentioned that due to a family member who is affected by Multiple Sclerosis, he <br /> supports the annual "Wa/k MS—Kitsap 2016"; and invited Mayor Lent to provide remarks at this <br /> year's event on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Klahowya Secondary School. Mavor Lent stated that she <br /> attends the walk every year, and will be pleased to participate in the opening ceremony. <br /> John Hanson, President of the Bremerton Historic Ships Association, with USS Turner Joy, <br /> discussed a program in cooperation with the STEM program; shared very positive results from <br /> marketing the USS Turner Joy through Groupon to sell tickets during the winter; and hoped that other <br /> film productions like Z Nation are staged in Bremerton. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 6A— Claims & Check Register: Check Numbers 366708 through 366948, and EFT-15665 through <br /> EFT-15720 in the amount of $3,077,240.47; Regular Payroll (Pay-Out & Correction) for the <br /> pay period ending December 31, 2015 in the amount of$12,447.68; <br /> 6B— Minutes of Meeting —January 6, 2016 <br />
