Council <br /> Members present were Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Mike Sullivan. <br /> Council Member Eric Younger was absent. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City <br /> Clerk Shannon Corin; Council Assistant Christine Grenier; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services <br /> Manager. <br /> A Courvci�BRiEFirv� was held to discuss General Councit Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Mike Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Denis Huelle of Peace Lutheran Church. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Was proud to report that $1,017,252 was raised yesterday during the Kitsap Great Give; <br /> • Announced the Bremerton Farmers Market will be open on Thursdays from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at <br /> Evergreen Rotary Park; and that the Sunday Farmers Market will start later this month; <br /> • Encouraged students ages 8 to 18 to sign-up for West Sound Coder pojo, a free computer class <br /> on May 9 at Poulsbo City Hall or May 16 at the Bainbridge Library starting at 10:30 AM; <br /> • Looked forward to the many events that are part of the Armed Forced Festival running from May 6 <br /> through 17 which includes a Golf Tournament on May 8, Culinary Arts Competition on May 9, <br /> Armed Forces Parade on May 16, and Motorcycle Ride & Show on May 17; <br /> • Proclaimed May 17, 2015 as the "7�''Annual Armed Forces Fesfival& Washington Youfh <br /> Academy Motorcycle Ride and Bike Show Day"which was accepted by David Ravmond, <br /> Ariel Solie, and Larrv Pierce, Washington Youth Academy Director; <br /> • Announced that the Summer Fun Playground Program will be held from July 6 to August 7 <br /> from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at several City park locations; <br /> � Proclaimed May 6, 2015 as "Kids to Parks Day"which was accepted by Cvnthia Enaelqau, <br /> Parks & Recreation Department; <br /> � Added that the USS Comanche will be providing free sailings during Kitsap Harbor Festival at the <br /> Bremerton Marina; and <br /> • Announced that Goodwill is accepting applications for a 6-week Job Training Program. <br /> KEDA BRIEFING <br /> John Powers, Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) Director, provided an update on 15� <br /> quarter operations; and announced that results of a business survey are available for viewing at <br /> www.kitsapeda.orq. Questions were asked by Runyon; with responses provided by Mr. Powers. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Vern LaPrath expressed concerns about speeding motorists in the Hanford neighborhood; and <br /> asked the City to consider the installation of speed humps by a contractor for $3,200 plus sales tax to <br /> address this problem. President Wheeler offered to meet together with Mr. LaPrath, Mayor Lent, <br /> and Public Works Director Chal Martin to discuss this issue. <br /> Mike Walton, Bremerton Family YMCA Marketing Director, reported on spring programs now in <br /> progress; announced that the next Fun Run will be on July 12 and sign-ups are being accepted for <br /> Camp Seymour this summer. He also announced that the U.S. Open Golf Tournament will be held <br /> on June 1 at Chambers Bay which will benefit local tourism; and that the Grand Opening and Ribbon <br /> Cutting Ceremony for the Kitsap Water Trail will be on June 27. <br />
