DIGITAL RECORDING C04aNCL <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES APPROVED <br /> Wednesday, April 15, 2015 MAY 0 6 2015 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, April <br /> 15, 2015, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 <br /> 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler presiding. Council Members <br /> present were Eric Younger, Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Mike <br /> Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative <br /> Assistant Lori Smith; and Information Services Manager Kevin Matthew. <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Mike Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Debbie Little of First Christian Church. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Presented a plaque to Wanda Self-Gonzales and her students from Friends Preschool & <br /> Childcare in recognition of their efforts in adopting the corner at 11th & Pacific Avenue; <br /> • Recognized the 1 st, 2"d, and 3rd place winners of the 2015 Washington State Science & <br /> Engineering Fair held last weekend; and noted next year's event will be April 1 & 2, 2016; <br /> • Proclaimed May 3—9, 2015 as "Drinking Water Week'; and brought forward Water <br /> Resources Manager Kathleen Cahall to provide a briefing of the City's Annual Drinking Water <br /> Report as well as to encourage citizens to take the "Mayor's Water Conservation Challenge" <br /> found on the website at www.mywateri)ledge.com through April 30; <br /> • Proclaimed April 22, 2015 as "Earth Day", and invited the community to the Annual Arbor Day <br /> Celebration & Tree Planting Ceremony on Friday, April 24, 2015; and <br /> • Proclaimed April 24, 2015 as "Bremerton Central Lions Club Day"in honor of their 90th <br /> birthday. <br /> BPD BRIEFING <br /> Police Captain Tom Wolfe brought forward Tom Danaher who introduced the newly formed <br /> Bremerton Citizens Auxiliary Patrol (BCAPS), a group of citizen volunteers that will provide additional <br /> patrol of parks, neighborhoods, vacant houses, vacation checks, the marina, and any other areas of <br /> concern. Questions were asked by Daugs and Runyon, with responses provided by Mr. Danaher... <br /> Captain Wolfe then provided the monthly update on Bremerton Police Department Operations. <br /> Comments were made by Runyon and Daugs;and questions were asked by Runyon with responses <br /> provided by Capt. Wolfe... <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Christine Davis, Chair of the Bremerton Foodline Empty Bowl Event, announced that the annual <br /> fundraiser will be held this Saturday, April 18 beginning at 2:00 PM at Olympic College. <br /> Caroline Stein provided a briefing on the 58th Annual Washington State Science & Engineering Fair <br /> held March 27 & 28, 2015, and thanked the City for their involvement. <br /> Marie Weichman was pleased to see the community members come together to help make the <br /> Bremerton Foodline Empty Bowl Event a success. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 6A— Claims & Check Register: Check Numbers 363010 through 363234, and EFT-14794 through <br /> EFT-14840 in the amount of $2,155,057.59; Regular Payroll for the pay period ending March <br />
