DIGITAL RECORDING MIM <br /> APPM <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES JUN 2 0 2012 <br /> Wednesday, June 6, 2012 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order <br /> Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 5 00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS <br /> GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 6 th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Jim <br /> McDonald presiding Council Members present were Nick Wofford, Eric Younger, Carol <br /> Arends, Faye Flemister, Greg Wheeler, Roy Runyon, Adam Brockus, and Leslie Daugs Also <br /> present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich and Legislative Assistant Lori Smith City Clerk <br /> Shannon Conn was absent <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Leslie Daugs followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Roger Hennigan of Apostolic Life Tabernacle <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Patty Lent <br /> • Presented Ruth Enderle with a "Mayor's Appreciation Award' in recognition of her 20 -years <br /> of service as the Executive Director of the Admiral Theatre, <br /> • Displayed photos from the recent "Kids to Parks Day' photo contest, and invited Parks <br /> Director Wyn Birkenthal to share a report on the field trip to Mount Rainier National Park <br /> with a group of kids seeing it for the first time, <br /> • Proclaimed the Week of June 18 to 24, 2012 as "Amateur Radio Week ", and then <br /> provided the proclamation to Kristogher W. Stafford Vice President of the North Kitsap <br /> Amateur Radio Club who invited the public to attend the ARRL Amateur Field Day Exercise <br /> June 23 & 24, <br /> • Encouraged participating in Kitsap County's "Free" Furniture Roundup Event on Sunday, <br /> June 10 from 8 00 AM to 4 00 PM at the Olympic View Transfer Station at 9300 SW Barney <br /> Road, <br /> • Acknowledged members of the Bremerton Police Department who carried the "Flame of <br /> Hope" in the Law Enforcement Torch Run as part of the Special Olympics Opening <br /> Ceremonies, <br /> • Showed the City Council 2012 -2013 Group Photo, indicating it is posted on the City's <br /> website, <br /> • Was pleased crew members from the USS Bremerton worked with crews from the City's <br /> Public Works and Parks Department to cleanup the Gateway entrance into the City, and <br /> were rewarded for their efforts with a BBQ at McCloud's Grill House, <br /> • Announced the 2 "d Annual Junior Firefighter Stairclimb Benefit for Amma Kocer- Bowman <br /> would be held on Saturday, June 23 from 10 00 AM to 4 00 PM at Fire Station No 1, <br /> • The Grand Opening Celebration of the Park Avenue Plaza and Ribbon Cutting for SEEfilm <br /> Bremerton Cinema will begin at 4 00 PM on Friday, June 22 at 655 0 Street, <br /> • Introduced Syd Nunez and Scott Rainey of Bremerton Elks Order 1181 who organized a <br /> very successful "Youth Jamboree" with a $2,000 grant from the organization's National <br /> Endowment Fund, and were now pleased to donate a check to the City in the unused <br /> amount of $584 75 to be used toward the City's Youth Wellness Center, <br /> • Brought forward new Public Works Director Chal Martin to discuss the closure of11th <br /> Street between Callow and Naval Avenues from June 13 to mid- August for the Crosstown <br /> Major Pipeline Project that will replace a critical sanitary sewer main, <br />
