DIGITAL RECORDING UL <br /> APPROW <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES FE'8 01 2012 <br /> Wednesday, January 4, 2012 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> January 4, 2012, at 5 00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKs GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6 Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council Vice- President Adam Brockus <br /> presiding Council Members present were Nick Wofford, Eric Younger, Carol Arends, Faye Flemister, <br /> Greg Wheeler, Roy Runyon, Leslie Daugs, and Jim McDonald Also present were City Attorney <br /> Roger Lubovich, Interim City Clerk Shannon Corin, and Legislative Assistant Lori Smith <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council <br /> ` Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Jim McDonald followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Larry Robertson of Emmanuel Apostolic Church <br /> COUNCIL OFFICER ELECTIONS <br /> Vice - President Brockus opened nominations for Council President/Mayor Pro Tempore <br /> Carol Arends nominated Jim McDonald <br /> Roy Runyon nominated Nick Wofford <br /> 05.36:25 Interim City Clerk Shannon Corin counted the ballots <br /> Voted for McDonald (6 Votes) McDonald, Wheeler, Flemister, Arends, Younger, Brockus <br /> Voted for Wofford (3 Votes) Wofford, Runyon, Daugs <br /> Jim McDonald was elected Council President/Mayor Pro Tempore for the year 2012, received the <br /> gavel, and was then seated as the chair for the remainder of the meeting <br /> President McDonald then opened nominations for Council Vice - President <br /> Adam Brockus nominated Greg Wheeler <br /> Nick Wofford nominated Roy Runyon <br /> 05.39:38 Interim City Clerk Shannon Corin counted the ballots <br /> Voted for Wheeler (7 Votes) Wheeler, Daugs, Brockus, Flemister, Arends, Younger, McDonald <br /> Voted for Runyon (2 Votes) Runyon, Wofford <br /> Greg Wheeler was elected Council Vice - President for the year 2012 <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Patty Lent <br /> • Welcomed new City of Bremerton Public Works Director Katy Allen <br /> • Proclaimed January 11, 2012 as Human Trafficking Awareness Day, <br /> • Introduced Caroline Stein Washington State Science & Engineering Fair, and announced this <br /> year's fair would be held on March 30 & 31, 2012, and <br /> • Encouraged citizens to sign up for the Re -Power Bremerton Program to save energy and costs <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Walton Community & Marketing Director for the Kitsap Family YMCA, announced upcoming <br /> events and activities taking place this month at the "Y" including the "Resolution Walk/Run Series" <br /> Todd Best welcomed the newly elected Council Members and Public Works Director, and asked that <br /> the Council consider the tough economic times when making their decisions over the next year <br />
