<br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday,
<br /> April 6, 2011, at 5 00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT
<br /> CENTER, 345 6 th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Will Maupin presiding
<br /> Council Members present were Nick Wofford, Carol Arends, Dianne Robinson, Greg Wheeler, Roy
<br /> Runyon, Adam Brockus, and Cecil McConnell Council Member Jim McDonald was absent Also
<br /> present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich, City Clerk Carol Etgen, and Legislative Assistant Lori
<br /> Smith
<br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was then held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council
<br /> Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers
<br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Cecil McConnell followed by the
<br /> invocation provided by Retired Pastor Oliver Warren formerly of Eagles Wings Fellowship
<br /> Church
<br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Lent
<br /> • Presented a Mayor's Appreciation Award to the Bremerton Fire Department for their
<br /> efforts in organizing the fundraiser for Hunter Smith, 4 -year old son of City of Bremerton
<br /> Firefighter Rob Smith,
<br /> • Thanked City employees Pam Bykonen, Community Development and Mike Bishop,
<br /> General Facilities, for being leaders in the 2010 United Way fundraising campaign and was
<br /> pleased to announce that City employees contributed $30,623,
<br /> • Was pleased to receive a tour by volunteers from the Chuckwagon Senior Nutrition
<br /> Program and 50/60 Meals on Wheels Program,
<br /> • Thanked Council Members Greg Wheeler and Nick Wofford, members of the USS Nimitz,
<br /> and all community residents who participated in the recent planting project at Lions Field,
<br /> • Proclaimed Saturday, April 9, 2011 in honor of the annual "Bataan Death March
<br /> Memorial ", and encouraged the public to attend the event beginning at 9 30 AM, and
<br /> • Announced the "Take Back Our Drugs" one -time event on Saturday, April 30 from 10 00
<br /> AM to 2 00 PM at Kitsap Mall, and
<br /> • Announced that City employees would participate in the County -wide Earthquake "Drops
<br /> Cover' Hold On'" Drill scheduled on April 20 at 9 45 AM
<br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION
<br /> Mike Walton Marketing Director with the Kitsap Family YMCA, provided an update on the Kids
<br /> Strong Campaign and Resolution Runs, and announced a "triple header ", 3 free family events
<br /> scheduled on Saturday, April 16 (Healthy Kids Day, Pools Day, and Splash & Jam)
<br /> Robert Medley encouraged the community to attend the Annual Bataan Death March Memorial
<br /> Service on Saturday, April 9 beginning at 9 30 AM at Bataan Park
<br /> Joe Hudson owner of Evergreen Trophy, expressed his concerns about the proposed plan by the
<br /> City to move utilities, especially how the City was able to vacate the alley without notifying any of
<br /> the property owners Mayor Lent indicated that the City is putting together a packet of information
<br /> which will include notifications related to the permitting of this project, and hoped that questions
<br /> provided by property owners will be answered
<br /> CONSENT AGENDA
<br /> A Check Numbers 342315 through 342588, and EFT -10739 through EFT -10783 in the amount
<br /> of $1,467,185 99, Regular Payroll for the pay period ending March 15, 2011 in the amount of
