CITY OF BREMERTON WASHINGTON LEGAL DEPARTMENT December 8,1948 Honorable Mayor and City Council Bremerton, Wash. Dear Sirs and Madam: At your meeting on October 13, 1948, you approved a recommenda- tion by the city engineer that certain real property be ac- quired in the vicinity of the existing Manette bridge in order that certain improvements contemplated by the State Highway Department might be made to the bridge structure. The matter was referred to the city clerk, city engineer and city attorney for attention. Negotiations were started with the respective owners of the parcels of property wanted by the city and two of the three parcels needed haye now been acquired. At this time I hand you herewith statutory warranty deed exe- cuted by L. A. Bender and Ellen Bender, husband and wife, in favor of the City of Bremerton for one of the parcels; warranty deed of Kate Bender,a,widow, in favor of the City of Bremerton, for another parcel, and title reports of the Puget Sqund Title Insurance Company for each of these two parcels. I recommend that the clerk be directed to transmit the deeds to the title company for filing and recording by the county auditor and that the title company be directed to issue its policy of title insurance in favor of the City of Bremerton upon filing and recording of the deeds. It is not known at this time whether the State Highway Depart- ment will definitely require the third parcel of property, and it may be possible to make arrangements with the present owner for the use of the property during the improvement of the bridge and its return upon completion of those improvem~ ts.
