LEGAL DEPARTMENT
November 5,1948
Honorable ~ayor and City Council
Bremerton, ~ash.
Dear Sirs amd ~fad~a:
At a meeting of the City Council on October 9, 1947, I was
directed to obtain a right-of-way for street purposes for
an extension of Pitt Street. Two parcels of property were
involved and negotiations were ben,un at once with the owners
for acquisition of the desired portions.
It appearing ~lat no settlement was possible, the City Coom-
c~l by ordinance authorized this department to institute con-
demnation proceedings. These proceedings finally resulted in
a settlement with the owners at a cost to the city slightly
in excess of the amount of the appraisal. One parcel, ap-
praised for ~60.00, was acquired at a cost of ~150.00; and
the other parcel, appraised for ~625.00, was acquired at a
cost of ~785.00. In view of the cost of condemning the prop-
erty and the possibility that a jury might return a verdict
in excess of the appraised value, ~e settlement was recommend-
ed by the city engineer and city attorney, and the recommenda-
tion has already been approved by the city council.
I now hand you herewith warrsnty deeds for the following two
parcels of property in Kitsap County, -ashin~n, to-wit:
The ~,~est 28.90 feet of the E~ and the South
~5 feet of the E~ of LOt 6, Tract 2,Decatur
Acre Tracts, according to the plat thereof,
recorded in Volume 2 of Plats, page 53,re-
cords of said county.
The East 21.10 feet of the West three-quar-
ters of Lot 6, Tract 2, Decatur Acre Tracts,

thereof recorded in Volume 2 of Plats, page
53,records of said county,
together with title certificates dated October 22,1947,and
appraisal report of i~r. C.~.Fulmer. I suggest that the deeds
~ f~led for recording by the County ~uditor and that the
appraisal report and title certific~ es be filed in the office
of the City 01erk.
Respectfully submitted,
