The aggregate sources in Kitsap County have benefited
through the years with naturally occurnng gravel borrow
which would satisfy the WSDOT Standard Specifications.
In recent years, this benefit has diminished. The City of
Bremerton was unaware of this fact while preparing the
plans and specifications for our current project, and bid
item #10 Gravel Borrow Incl. Haul.
The City wishes to continue using local sources for gravel
in its projects. As such, the City will allow the use of testing
requirements for Aggregate for Gravel Base (Std. Spec. 9-
03.10) instead of Gravel Borrow (Std. Spec. 9-03(14)1.
No other change will occur with bid item #10, Gravel
Borrow Incl. Haul, except the change in testing
specifications. This will be a no cost change order to the
City, and will be retroactive to the start of construction.
