A rough drawing (not to scale) is attached for your review. Our research for the Task 1 Pre-design Evaluation showed that the SAA is present in Well N-2. This well was drilled into the Deep Artesian Aquifer (DAA) in 1986 but its yield was not acceptable and it was capped. At that time, a recommendation was made to complete it in the SAA, but the reconstruction was Rot authorized. Because the Well N-2 geologic log shows a thicker section of SAA than shown for any other Anderson Creek well, we recommend abandonment of the DAA completion and reconstruction into the SAA. This design utilizes the complete thickness of aquifer sediments present. Our proposed screen design for Well N-2 is listed below in Table 1. Fax: (253) 472-5846 e-mail: mail@robinson-noble.com Ned Lever November 1, 2004 Page 2 We have specified extra column and collapse strength for these well screens because of the 10-inch pipe size assembly's 210 foot length. The assembly \fvill be placed inside the 16-inch well casing that will be extracted from 350 to 180 feet as the Colorado silica sand size 8-12 filter pack is installed in the annulus. We estimate it will require at least 270 sacks (50 pound) of sand. We have sent our proposed sealing plan to Bill Lum (Kitsap Department of Health) who passed it on to the Department of Ecology for review. Backfilling the existing well between 876 and 405 feet will require placement of about 12.6 cubic yards of clean pea gravel. The 16-inch casing will be cut at 400 feet and extracted before the seal is placed in the open borehole between 405 and 355 feet. The seal will require approximately 40 sacks (50 pound) of bentonite chips. Approximately five feet of pea gravel will be placed on top of the chips to provide a solid base for the well screen assembly. Please call if you have any questions or need additional information.
