The hydraulic capacity of the CIPP shall be greater than or equal to the hydraulic capacity of the original host pipe, based on hydraulic calculations with standard engineering roughness coefficients. B. The liner thickness shall be designed based on the engineering formulas listed in ASTM F1216 for fully deteriorated pipes, assuming groundwater at the surface, HS-20 live loading, 120 pounds per cubic foot dry soil density, and depth of cover as determined by the adjacent upstream or downstream manhole, whichever is deeper. The thickness shall be sufficient to prevent Brentwood Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Attachment 2-3 City of Bremenon Department of Public Works and Utilities groundwater from entering the pipe, while maintaining the maximum cross- sectional pipe area possible. The CIPP design shall assume no bonding to the original pipe wall. MINIMUM PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Curred Composite Curred Composite Composite Property Test Method min. per ASTM F1216 (400,000 psi Resin) ASTM D-790 Modulus of Elasticity i (short term) 250,000 psi 400,000 psi Flexural Stress ASTM D-790 4,5000 psi 4,000 psi G. Any alternate resin impregnation method must be proven. b. The resin impregnation method shall be vacuum impregnation, or an alternate proven method producing similar results. Brentwood Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Attachment 2-4 City of Bremerton Department of P~blic Works and Utilities 2. Liner Insertion: Inversion Method a. The impregnated tube shall be inserted through an existing manhole or other access point by means of the Manufacturer's or Assembler's recommended installation process and in accordance with ASTM F1216. The application of air or water pressure shall fully extend the liner to the next designated manhole or termination point and inflate and firmly adhere the liner to the pipe wall. b. Single liners may be installed through intermediate manholes. c. When inversion is by water pressure, the Contractor shall use methods which control the installation rate, accounting for the increase in hydrostatic head in pipes which have significant elevation change. 3. Liner Insertion: Pull/Winch Method a. The impregnated tube shall be pulled into place in accordance with ASTM F1743 within the host pipe with the aid of a power winch. b. The maximum allowable longitudinal elongation, or stretch, of the material shall be one percent. The longitudinal stretch of the tube shall be gauged by comparing marker on the fully inserted tube to the actual length of pipe being rehabilitated. 4. Curing: a. After placement of the liner is complete, provide a suitable heat source and distribution equipment. The equipment shall be capable of circulating hot water or steam throughout the lined section in accordance with the Manufacturer's or Assembler's recommendations to raise the temperature uniformly above the temperature required to affect a resin cure. This temperature shall be determined by the Manufacturer or Assembler based on the resin/hardener system employed. b. The heat source shall be fitted with continuous monitoring thermocouples to measure and record the temperature of the incoming and outgoing hot water or steam. c. Provide standby equipment to maintain the heat source supply. The temperature during the cure shall not be less than 130 degrees Fahrenheit at the boundary between the pipe wall and the liner unless otherwise directed by the Manufacturer. d. Temperature shall be maintained during the curing period as recommended by the Manufacturer, and shall follow the heating schedule supplied by the Manufacturer. e. A data logger shall record temperature, pressure and time during heating, cure, and cool down at both ends of the liner. Care shall be taken to ensure that a vacuum is not induced which could damage the new CIPP during the release of head on the new CIPP. c. Continue data logger operation throughout the cool down phase. 6. Ends of the finished CIPP liner shall be sealed at the interface of the manhole with the host pipe to prevent water movement between the host pipe and the finished CIPP liner. The end sealing material shall be an approved epoxy or sealing material that is compatible with the finished CIPP liner and shall provide a durable watertight seal as approved by the Engineer. 3.3 TESTING A. CIPP samples shall be prepared in accordance with ASTM D5813, Section 7, ASTM F1216 or ASTM F1743, Section 8, using either method proposed. The flexural properties must meet or exceed the values listed in Table 1 of the applicable ASTM standard. B. CIPP fiat plate samples shall be submitted to the ENGINEER for testing. The sample will be large enough to allow for a minimum of five specimens for flexural testing. Samples shall be cured on conditions similar to those of the CIPP liner. C. Wall thickness of samples shall be determined as described in paragraph 6.3.3 of ASTM D5813 or paragraph 8.1.6 of ASTM F1743. The minimum wall thickness at any point shall not be less than 871/2°/o of the design thickness. D. Visual inspection of the CIPP shall be in accordance with ASTM F1743, Section 8.6. E. Should the pre-installation inspection reveal conditions in the sewer to be substantially different than those presented in the appendices of these Specifications, the Contractor shall report the changes to the Engineer along with supporting videotape recording of existing conditions. 3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Should the post*installation CCTV inspection reveal any material flaws or ineffective installation of the liner, the Contractor will make corrections as approved by the Engineer, at no cost to the OWNER.
