I .=1 Won-Door Corporation FIREGUARD MR - MANUFACTURER For more than 28 years WJn-Door has provided trouble free folding partitions to satisfied customers world wide. The advent of the FJICGuard system has provided a new dimension in the architectUral expression in meeting crit- ical building cod.: requirements for a variety of different applications. "VON-DOOR ACCORDION.- TYPE FIRE DOORS PP - PRODUCfPRESENTATION In many situations, sl~ch as ele\'acor lobby separation, the WON-DOOR FireGuard doors comprise the: only practi- cal solution approved by ail three model building codes. FireGuard is the only horizonral sliding fire door with unilateral approval co be used in place of side-hinged swinging doors for elevator lobby separation! In addition to UL labels for 20 minutes, 1 hour, 11/2 hour and 3 hour applications, FircGuard doors are also Factory MutUal lisred, Council of American Building Officials recognized (Report -# 212). California Flre Marshal listed and approved and recognized by many other state and loal governments. FireGuard has not only passed the rigorous 3 hour UL test, bur still looked new on the unexposed side. The =fer of heat was so minimal and backface temperatures so low, officials could literally touch the unexposed side with their bare hands while the fire side glo~-ed red hot at more than 1900 degrees farenhc:it. FEATURES L Only FW:Guard can extend unlimited widths! The FireGuard's patented track and trolley system supports each panel section with a separate pin and roller: This unique design allows the spanning of unlimited widths and heights up to 23 feet! 2. Only FireGuard can span curved openings! Unlike conventional fire rated doors, only FtreGuard can be specified in curved openings. With a nunimum radius of ten feet, FireGuard accomplishes what has previously been impossible! 3. FW:Guard Doors fold neatly into the wall when not in use, ~ may also function as beautiful sight barriers, sound barriers and space dividers. Despire its effectiveness as both fire and smoke barrier; FireGuard folds to just inches per foot. The doors may be programmed to close automatically on a fiillsafe back-up DC power supply activated by any smoke alarm in the building. 4A. Fm:Guard doors provide accl1ent smoke and draft control . . and without a Boor track! I A right fitting floor ~p and fire liner provide an excel- lent seal for blodcing both smoke and roxie fumes. The doors meet code requirc:rnents for "tight-fitting smoke and draft control" doors as demonstr.lted in special smoke and draft control testing for model building code approval. 4-B. FtreGuard also offers optional hardware designed for easy access by building occupants. JUSt a few ounces of pressure (con- siderabl y kss torce than required in section 5 of the 101 Life Safety Code) opens the doors to a distance predetemuned by the building owner or architect and then recloses it automatically. V\brking much dle same as conven- tional elevator doors, FireGuard's pressure sensitive leading edge stops the door immcdiately upon contact with an obstruction, pauses momen- tarily, then seeks the closed position. The automatic operation can be easily overriden nWlUally at any time. S. EreGuard utifues state-of.the- art microprocessor control systems. An optional compact control unit provides door stams monitoring from a central location. The position of each door i.n the syStem can be determined at a glace 'as well as the currenr condition of all back-up DC batteries. Gateway to the Olympics and Home of the Puget Sound NillJal Shipyard BUILDING, LAND USE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES June 7, 1995 Greg Benton Brown, Connally and Rowan, Architects 222 E. 26th Tacoma, WA 98421 re: Permit application #95AP08657, Bridgeview Building, Suite 208, Olympic Family Practice Mr. Benton: As we discussed earlier, the addition to the existing Suite 208 now occupied by Olympic Family Practice will increase the square footage of the space to the point where two exits, located at least half the diagonal distance of the suite apart, are required by the Uniform Building Code. Your proposal to resolve this problem was to create a two-hour occupancy separation waIl equipped with a 1-1/2 hour fire rated and labeled door with a magnetic hold-open between the two portions of the suite to create a horizontal exit. This proposal would satisfy the second exit requirement; however, the Fire Marshal has required that the magnetic hold-open be wired to a building fire alarm system which would release the door in the event of an alarm activation, and the Bridgeview Building is not currently equipped with such a system. The Building Department will approve a door which is kept closed at all times, but you have indicated this is not a satisfactory solution for the tenant. If you wish to discuss the fire alarm requirements with the Fire Marshal, you may contact Scott Rappleye at (360)478-5380. If you develop another proposal, please do not hesitate to contact me at (360) 478-5275. Sincerely, J~.yc!~~ Janet K. Lunceford Bldg. & Dev. Specialist cc:file 239 4TII STREET . BREMERTON.
