SUMMARY:Thisgrant will fund the installation of synthetic turf on one existing all-weather soccer
field at Pendergast Regional Park, along with anew restroom and ADA-accessible pathways and
parking. This 50.3-acre sports complex, built in 1995, includes a479-stall lighted parking lot, three
lighted ball fields, a basketball court, playground, sand volleyball courts, an off-leash dog area, an
indoor soccer center, and two lighted all-weather (dirt) soccer fields. Although designed for wet-
weather play, the dirt fields have fallen out of favor due to dusty, abrasive conditions that limit
playability, raise safety concerns, and render them unusable. Converting one field to synthetic turf
will restore safe, high-quality playing conditions and support consistent year-round use, maximizing
existing lighting and amenities. The primary use will be youth soccer, with additional use for youth
lacrosse, rugby, flag football, ultimate frisbee, and other field sports, as well as recreational leagues
and tournaments.
