SUMMARY:The Parks & Recreation Department is requesting support to apply for a grant to
provide partial funding for the development and installation of a fitness court at Evergreen Rotary
Park. Outreach and feedback from the PROS plan showed a desire for more fitness-related amenities
within our park system. This product provides the ability for residents to utilize free fitness equipment along
a busy pathwaywithin the community. The spacealso allows the ability for various types of classes to be
programmedon the second half of the court, such as tai chi, yoga, or similar.Applying for the grant does
not lock the city into purchasing the equipmentif awarded.

FISCAL IMPACTS(Include Budgeted Amount):The grant is for $40,000 towards the purchase and
installation of the court. Additional fundraising will occur through donations, sponsorships and/or
offset by the Parks Capital fund. No general fund tax support is being requested currently. Full
buildout cost ranges between $200,000-$275,000 depending on amenities,the exact design is yet to
be determined.

Move to approve the National Fitness Campaign Grant Application;andauthorize the Parks and
Recreation Directorto finalize and submitthe applicationwithsubstantially the same terms and
conditions as presented.
