FROM :BREMERTON POLICE-PATROL FAX NO. :3604735396 Apr. 12 2005 02:46PM P1 ; MemorandulTl for Record According to a melllorandum (attached) from Ron McAffee, Director of CenCom, dated May 18. 200J, the City of Brcmerton Police Department is t"equired to pay $20.00 per MeT on the network that connects to CenCom for services. This is a surcharge . according to the letter. Until Septe.mber 2003, the Police Deparltllenl had 18 MCTs in service use with CenCorn. The billing fee was $360.00 pet month. The Police Department added 12 lUore and newer MCTs to its inventory for use at that time. Having 30 MC'fs instead of 18 active MC'.I.'s increased the surcharge fee from $360.00 to $600.00 per mon tho Twelve MCTs will be purchased to exchange or backfill t.he original twelve MCTs brought on line in June 2001. This wi]] update the fleet inventory with the latest MeT lechnology. The 30 unit total may drop to 24 when older police vehicles are retired and l'emoVed from the fleet inventory. :fior now the total will remain at 3@..units. This is the second time in 2003 that the surcharge has been an issue. The first time was at the beginning of 2003 following its omission from lhe 2003 budget plan. The ex.iJting contract with CenCot.n does not contain these surcharge agreement terms. It is recommended tha! lh' surcharge and fee process requirement should be identified and cU. - a ) .rmal document than a memorandum from CenCom.
