SUMMARY:
Council confirmation is required for the appointment of the Director of Human Resources. The
Administration recommends confirmation of Ms. Tameka Stewart as Director of Human
Resources.
Ms. Stewart brings over 20 years of human resources experience, with a career largely
focused in the public sector in director, management, and generalist roles. Since January
2024, she has served as Associate Director of Human Resources at the University of
Human Resources, and maintains
SHRM and SPHR certifications. Ms. Stewart anticipates a transition period of approximately
two to three weeks.
The City retained The Prothman Company to conduct a nationwide search utilizing various
media and direct mailings. Ms. Stewart was selected by the Mayor out of a competitive pool of
highly qualified applicants. Ms. Stewart was also interviewed by Council Vice President Jane
Rebelowski and Council Members Michael Goodnow and Jeff Coughlin.
A starting salary has been negotiated, subject to Council confirmation, at Pay Band21, Rate
4.

FISCAL IMPACTS(Include Budgeted Amount): Annual salary $165,539.28.This appointment
does not require a budget adjustment.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to confirm Tameka Stewart as the Director of Human Resources at Band21,Rate 4of the
salary scheduleand authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the letter of engagementwith
substantially the same terms and conditions as presented.
