WHEREAS, theCityCouncildesirestoamendBremerton Municipal Codeto ServiceSystem byOrdinance 5190, NOW THEREFORE, THECITYCOUNCIL OFTHE CITYOFBREMERTON, WASHINGTON, DOESHEREBY ORDAIN ASFOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section2.05.020of theBremertonMunicipalCodeentitled 2.05.020APPOINTMENTANDCONFIRMATION OFDEPARTMENT DIRECTORS. a)Mayoral appointments ofdepartment directors shallbesubject toconfirmationby theCityCouncil. Priortoanappointment oraprovisionalappointment toanewlycreated vacancyof employment contract, ifany, shall besubmitted to theCity Councilforreviewandapproval. The appointmentandconfirmation shallbepursuanttothetermsandconditionsasapproved by the CityCouncil. The Mayormaymake provisional appointmentstofillthevacancy ofadepartment director. Noprovisional appointment(s) to anon- extendbeyondonehundredtwenty (120) daysfromthe dateoforiginalappointment without the consentoftheCityCouncil. positionshallbemadepursuant tocivilservice rules. Upontheprovisional appointment toa vacancy, theAdministrationshallnotifyCityCouncilof such appointment. SECTION 2. Severability. Ifanyoneormoresections, subsections, or sentences of thisOrdinance areheldtobeunconstitutionalorinvalid, suchdecisionshallnot affectthevalidity oftheremaining portion ofthisOrdinanceandthesameshall remaininfull forceandeffect. SECTION 3. EffectiveDate. Thisordinanceshalltakeeffectandbeinforceten 10)days fromandafteritspassage, approval andpublicationasprovided bylaw.
