Thepetitionmethodof petition mustrepresent either10% (firstpetition) or60% (second petition) ofassessed value or acreage ofland. Afterbeingnotified oftheproposed annexation, theCityCouncilmustsetadatewithin60daysof receiptofthepetition. ThemeetingonOctober15, 2025isthe required meeting betweenthe Petitionersand theCity Council. Atthismeeting theCityCouncil must determine: 1)Whether thecitywillaccept, rejector modifytheproposedannexation; 2)Whetheritwill require simultaneous adoptionofaComprehensive Plan; and 3)Whether itwillrequireassumption ofalloranyportions ofexisting cityindebtednessbythe areatobeannexed. Attheconclusion ofthemeetingonOctober15, 2025the CityCouncil isexpectedtopass a resolution which willallowtheannexationtomoveforwardprocedurally, andallows thegatheringof signaturesforthesecond step (60% petition).
