Race Equity Advisory Committee
5:00 PM
Race Equity Advisory Committee Virtual Meeting Minutes
Race Equity Advisory Committee Members In attendance: Council Members Leslie Daugs
(Chair); Lori Wheat (Vice Chair), and Michael Goodnow. Also present were Dave Sorenson, IT
Manager and Legislative/Auditor Assistant Christine Grenier.
1. Meeting was convened at 5:00 PM via “Zoom”.
2. General Business
The goal of tonight’s meeting was to appoint 2 committee members with staggered
terms; and committee members may re-apply to serve again
The following questions were provided to each of the applicants:
a) What is your vision for this Committee?
b) What does it mean for you to have a commitment to race equity? How have
you demonstrated that commitment, and how would you see yourself
demonstrating it here?
c) What challenges do you think you will face in working as a member of the
Bremerton Racial Equity Advisory Committee?
Before the end of each interview, the applicants were allowed an opportunity to ask
the committee members any questions
Applicants who were not selected may be considered in the next phase(s) of interviews
3. Applicant Interviews (Approx. 15 minutes each)

Glenna Matteson
Cely Quisano
Darryl Riley
Stacey Opiopio
4. Committee Appointments
Motion was made by Lori Wheat; and seconded by Michael Goodnow to appoint Darryl
Riley to the Race Equity Advisory Committee for a 2-year term expiring on August 10,
2022. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion was made by Lori Wheat; and seconded by Michael Goodnow to appoint Cely
Quisano to the Race Equity Advisory Committee for a 1-year term expiring on August 10,
2021. Motion carried unanimously.
5. The next meeting (to continue interviews) is to be determined.
6. Meeting was adjourned at 6:44 PM.
