Home My WebLink About3390RESOLUTIONNO. 3390 ARESOLUTION oftheCityCounciloftheCityof Bremerton, Washington, acceptingtheWestKitsapWay TransportationStudy WHEREAS, theCitywasawardeda $606,000grantfromtheFederalSurface TransportationProgramtostudytheWestKitsapWaycorridorfromSR3totheCitylimitsat ChicoWay; and WHEREAS, theWestKitsapWaycorridorlacksactivetransportationfacilities, lacksmodernstormwaterfacilities, hassafetyconcernsandpoorpavementconditionssuchthata planforfutureimprovementstothecorridorisneeded; and WHEREAS, theCityunderwentastudywithinputfromUSNavy, Kitsap County, KitsapTransit, KitsapHealthDistrict, WSDOT, BremertonParks, acommunity representative, andSuquamishTribe, toevaluateexistingandfuturetransportationneedsand developapreferredalternativetoimproveWestKitsapWay; and WHEREAS, thestudywasguidedbypublicinputgatheredduringthestudy including2virtualpublicmeetingsand2onlineopenhouses; and WHEREAS, thestudyincludedadditionalpublicoutreachforbusinessand propertyownersalongthecorridor; and WHEREAS, thestudysoughtfurtherinputandguidancefromtheComplete StreetsCommittee; and WHEREAS, thestudyfindingsandrecommendationswerepresentedtoCouncil atPublicWorksCommitteemeetingsthroughouttheprojectandthepreferredalternativewas presentedonJanuary16, 2024; and WHEREAS, thestudyfindingsandfinalrecommendationswereconsolidatedinto areporttitledtheWestKitsapWayTransportationPlan; and WHEREAS, theWestKitsapWayPlanincludesaconceptforthereconstruction oftheWestKitsapWayCorridorbrokenintophasedprojectsfortheCitytodeliver; and WHEREAS, individualprojectsfromtheWestKitsapWayPlanwillbe Plan, NOWTHEREFORE, THECITYCOUNCILOFTHECITYOFBREMERTON, WASHINGTON, DOESHEREBYRESOLVEASFOLLOWS: SECTION1.
