WHEREAS, the fortheCityofBremertonislocatedinsidetheNorm DicksGovernmentCenter, acondominium; and WHEREAS, theNormDicksGovernmentCenterhasflagpolesinfrontofthe buildingandtheflagpolesarecontrolledbytheboardforthecondominiumassociationwhichis comprisedofunitowners; and WHEREAS, theCityCounciloftheCityofBremertonsupportstheassociation boardraisingaPRIDECommemorativeFlagattheNormDicksGovernmentCenterand supportscommunitymembersandbusinessdisplayingtheirsupportoftheLGBTQ+ community, incelebrationofPRIDEevents, andasastatementtothepublicthatdiscrimination, harassment andharmtoLGBTQ+ individualsisnotacceptableandwillnotbetolerated; NOWTHEREFORE, THECITYCOUNCILOFTHECITYOFBREMERTON, WASHINGTON, DOESHEREBYRESOLVEASFOLLOWS: SECTION1. TheCityCouncilsupportstheLGBTQ+ communityandwantsto demonstratethissupportbyadvocatingforthedisplayofaPRIDECommemorativeFlagatthe NormDicksGovernmentCenterandaffirmingsupportforcommunitymembersandbusinesses whoalsodisplayregaliainsupportofPRIDE. Whilefinaldecisiontoraisea PRIDE CommemorativeFlag attheNormDicksGovernmentCenter restswiththeboardforthe condominiumassociation, theCityrequestsdisplayofaPRIDECommemorativeFlagduringany orallthefollowingtimeperiodseveryyear: (1) ThemonthofJunewhenPRIDEiscelebrated ththgloballyand/or (2) June28 throughtheendofthethirdweekendinJuly. June28 is commemoratedasStonewallNationalDaytohonortheStonewallUprising, apivotaleventinthe LGBTQ+ civilrightsmovementandthethirdweekendinJulyisrecognizedlocallyastheannual PRIDEcelebrationinKitsapCounty. SECTION2. Uponpassage, Legislativestaffwillprovideacopyofthis Resolutiontotheboardoftheassociationforconsideration. TheCouncilPresidentordesigneeis authorizedtocompleteadditionalstepsnecessarytoeffectuatetheintentoftheResolution, includingbutnotlimitedtocompletingrequestforms, writinglettersorattendingmeetings. SECTION3. Severability. Ifanyoneormoresections, subsections, orsentences ofthisResolutionareheldtobeunconstitutionalorinvalid, suchdecisionshallnotaffectthe Docusign Envelope ID: 3C385775-D51B-4F55-A107-A847EA21F46A validityoftheremainingportionofthisResolutionandthesameshallremaininfullforceand effect.
