SUMMARY: The City of Bremerton water utility collects about 1300 routine and investigative water
and soils samples each year in compliance with state and federal regulations and to ensure it is
providing safe, clean drinking water to customers. Periodically, regulatory agencies may require
additional targeted sampling such as required under EPA’s Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring
Rule based upon emerging contaminants of concern.
Samples must be analyzed by a state-certified laboratory using state and federally-accepted
analytical methods. The vast majority of the samples are bacteriological, and to ensure that
bacteriological sample holding times are met, the laboratory must be within 30 driving miles of the
utility operations center at 100 Oyster Bay Ave N.
This 3-year agreement replaces the current outdated agreement.
ATTACHMENTS: Project summary and Professional Services Agreement that sets terms and
conditions, scope of work, and deliverables.
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): A total of $180,000 at $60,000 per year from the
Water Utility Operations Professional Services Budget (534.5134 54110). No budget additions or
changes required.
