SUMMARY: The work consists of replacing approximately 425 LF of existing 8-inch sanitary sewer
with new 8-inch PVC sewer pipe, installing 3 sanitary sewer manholes, associated flow diversion,
disconnecting and reconnecting sewer laterals, traffic control, and surface restoration. The project is
located along 61h Street between Warren Avenue and Pacific Avenue and is being completed ahead
of the upcoming 61h Street preservation project.
Requests for bids were sent to contractors selected from the Municipal Research and Services
Center (MRSC) Small Works Roster. Five (5) bids were received. Bids were opened on February 24,
2021. The lowest responsive, responsible bidder was Pape & Sons Construction, who submitted a
bid in the amount of $271,944.10 including sales tax.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The work is fully funded in the 2021 Wastewater
Capital Budget.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to award the contract for the 6th Street Sewer Replacement to Pape &Sons Construction; and
authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with substantially the same terms and
conditions as presented.
