Improvement Project
SUMMARY: The Parks & Recreation Department applied for and received funding from the
Recreation and
improvements to the Warren Avenue Playfield. Amajor scope item was the replacement of the
failing wooden light poles and incandescent light fixtures. The existing 8 wooden poles have been
inspected and found to be rotten internally and high risk of failure. The upgraded system will feature
4 steel poles located away from the playing surface and new energy efficient LED light fixtures
featuring reduced light spillage into the neighborhood. Additionally, an upgraded lighting control
system will provide integration into the existing computer controlled scheduling program.
Equipment pricing has been competitively solicited and publicly awarded through the King County
Directors Association Purchasing Cooperative (KCDA). Total Equipment Cost: $85,800 plus WSST.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve the purchase of athletic field lighting equipment from Musco Lighting through the
King County Directors Association Purchasing Cooperative in the amount of $85,800 plus
Washington State Sales Tax; and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with
substantially the same terms and conditions as presented.
