SUMMARY:
Puget Sound Energy has established a new rebate program to convert high pressure sodium (HPS)
streetlights to LED. Staff have coordinated with PSE on the programmatic conversion of all
remainingHPSstreetlightsto LED the conversion would be executed in small (120-light+/-)
contractswith the goal to execute four contracts each year. At this level of delivery all 1,578
remaining HPS streetlights would be converted to LED in approximately 3-years. No City Council
action is necessary to execute the conversion contracts; however, for 2023 a budget adjustment of
$70,000 is required in the Street Fund to allow the contracts to be executed.

FISCAL IMPACTS(Include Budgeted Amount): The 2023 Street Operations budget is increased
by $70,000 from REET to implement the Streetlight LED conversion. REET is the bestrevenue
source to fund this program, and results in annual savings to the Street Fund as presented in the
Council Summary.
