SUMMARY: Bids were opened on Wednesday, September 14,2005 for Reservoirs No. 21 & 22,
Seismic Upgrade Project. A total of seven (7) bids were received for the project (see attached Bid
Opening List).
The low bidder is Nordic Construction, Inc. from Tacoma, W A for the Total Lump Sum Bid of
$83,569.00. The total contract amount, including Washington State Sales Tax, is $90,755.93
The engineer's estimate was $121,000 to $128,000: Reservoir 21 (3MG) $91,500 to $94,000; and
Reservoir 22 (O.2MG) $31,000 to $34,000 (see attached Engineer Estimates).

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Budgeted in Water 2005 in the amount of
$353,000 to include Reservoirs 10 N&S ($98,674), Reservoir 21, and Reservoir 22 for 100% cost
funded by FEMA-Hazardous Mitigation Grant Program.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: That City Council approve the contract award to Nordic
Construction, Inc. in the amount of$90,755.93 including Washington State Sales Tax, and authorize
the Mayor to ftnalize and execute the contract.
