SUMMARY: The Casad Dam morning glory overtlow structure was constructed in 1957. The steel
overflow weir and outlet pipe still have the original coal tar epoxy coating. The existing coating will be
removed and a new coating system will be applied.
Requests for bids were sent to five (5) contractors using the MRSC Small Works Roster. Two (2)
bids were received. Bids were opened on July 15, 2021, Long Painting Company was the lowest
responsible, responsive bidder in the amount of $137,994 (which includes sales tax).

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This project is included in the 2021 Water Capital
Budget.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to award the construction contract for the Casad Dam Morning
Glory Overflow Coating Replacement to Long Painting Company in the amount of $137,994
(including sales tax) and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with substantially
the same terms and conditions as presented.
