SUMMARY: The City Attorneys office is seeking to increase Prosecution's Legal Assistant position
from a part time to a full-time position. The City Attorney's office is also requesting to add a full-time
Legal Assistant position in the Civil division to assist the City Clerk with public records and other
functions, as well as providing assistance with litigation and contract review.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Annual labor and benefits increase for the 2021
budget is $67,000.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to: 1) Increase Prosecution's Legal Assistant position from a part time to a full-time position at
Band 4, Rate 1 of the Management, Professional, Confidential &Fiduciary Salary Plan; 2) Create afull-
time Legal Assistant position in the Civil division at Band 4, Rate 1 of the Management, Professional,
Confidential & Fiduciary Salary Plan; 3) Authorize the 2021 mid -year hire of a full-time Legal Assistant
position in the Civil division; and 4) Approve a $67,000 increase to the 2021 labor budget of the General
Fund.
