In the summer of 2020, the City started work to reduce phosphorus and control aquatic vegetation using Phoslock, a sequestering agent, and harvesting. This contract amendment extends the work through 2021 and is the second year of the 3-year plan. Phoslock reduces available phosphorus to eliminate blue-green algae blooms and restores water quality to an acceptable condition for use by human, animal, and fish. Harvesting removes excess aquatic vegetation biomass to reduce phosphorus released during decomposition. Contract modification numbering jumped #1 to #2 through an editing error, there is not a contract modification #1. AquaTechnex will mobilize and treat the lake with Phoslock in May and begin harvesting in June of 2021 with a possible second partial Phoslock treatment in August. NPDES Permit coverage is in place and will be renewed during the contract term for 2021-2022. ATTACHMENTS: 1) AquaTechnex LLC.
