This letter of understanding is agreed to pursuant to Article 24 of the Labor Agreement by and
between the City of Bremerton and the General Teamster's Local 589.
Employee James Cormier was promoted to the position of WWTP Operator Trainee on August
I, 2018. Per Article 30.1 of the Teamsters contract, WWTP Operator Trainees are in a training
period of not less than six (6) months and no more than eighteen (18) Months. Mr. Cormier's
trainee period expires on January 31, 2019. He has failed to obtain the required WWTP Operator
Certification.
Due to the above, the City agrees to extend Mr. Cormier's trainee period for (3) three months.
Per Article 30.4 of the Teamsters Collective Bargaining Agreement, should Mr. Cormier fail to
obtain his Wastewater Operator Trainee Certification before the end of this extension, he will be
demoted to the position of WWTP Laborer.
The parties agree that this action shall be non-precedent setting or relied upon in any future
actions.
The remaining provisions of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
