SUMMARY: BMC Chapter 2.50.032(c)(3) requires Council approval when an employee is hired to a
higher pay band than Rate 1. Therefore, the City is requesting Council approval to set Eric Burris's
salary at Rate 3 of Band 16. Mr. Burris has a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Emporia
State University (Emporia Kansas), he is a State of Kansas Certified Class IV Wastewater Treatment
Plant Operator, he has 20-years of treatment plant operations experience and currently holds the
position of Wastewater Superintendent for the City of Augusta, Kansas.
ATTACHMENTS: Letter of Engagement outlining terms of employment.
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Annual Salary (2019) is 101,443.68. This
appointment does not require a budget adjustment.
