SUMMARY: Earlier this year the State Legislature passed 2SHB 1059 and it became effective on
July 28, 2019. This new law extends the business and occupation (B&O) tax return filing due date
for annual filers from January 31 to April 15. The law requires that B&O cities adopt these code
changes by no later than January 1, 2020.
The proposed ordinance amends Section 3.48.090 and Section 3.86.040 of the Bremerton Municipal
Code relating to Business and Occupation Tax by updating references to the Revised code of
Washington and updating language regarding tax payment due dates.
