We reviewed the environmental check- list and have the following comments. Potential impacts from this project include reduction of the water filtration functions of the stream/wetland drainage course and loss of habitat values. More information should be gathered and analyzed regarding the role this area plays in water filtration. Typically, organic soils and vegetated stream courses are very effective at filtering pollutants. We recommend that the drainage course and associated wetlands be retained on this or mitigation provided for their loss. The applicant should contact the department or Wildlife or Fisheries regarding a Hydraulic Project approval. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers may also have a permit to issue for filling in a wetland.
