Study Session Date: October 9, 2019
COUNCIL MEETING Date: October 16, 2019
Department: PW & U
Presenter: Tom Knuckey
Phone: (360) 473-2376
SUMMARY: In 2018 the City purchased truck 183037 as a replacement for truck 3091; however, a
new plow blade was not purchased. After adapting the old plow from 3091 to the new truck it was
realized that the old plow was not as compatible as anticipated. Problems with angle control and
plow position caused the plow to break forward when pushing heavy wet snow. An upgraded plow,
designed for the new truck and plow mount would improve snow removal efficiency and safety. All
new trucks with plowing ability will be ordered with plows designed for the particular models.

Subject: Re: October 9 - City Council Study Session Agenda & Notice
Importance: High
Hello Lori: Thank you for the notification about the Bremerton City Council meeting on Wednesday, October 9, to
review and approve the Bremerton Lodging Tax Committee fund recommendations for 2020.
Unfortunately, due to the large number of Bremerton area hotels, attractions, events, non-profit groups, and
businesses that enjoy free membership, as well as access to free VKP tourism marketing programs, the fund amount
recommended by the Bremerton Lodging Tax Committee is not sufficient to cover the cost to provide year-round
tourism marketing services to the City of Bremerton in 2020.
After careful review the VKP determined the financially prudent course of action is to withdraw its application
request for lodging tax funds from the City of Bremerton for 2020 and conclude tourism marketing services at the
end of its lodging tax contract on December 31, 2019.
While the VKP is disappointed it will not have the opportunity to support Bremerton’s tourism stakeholders and
industry in 2020, it does wish to thank the City Council for past lodging tax fund allocations.
Respectfully,
