This letter of understanding is agreed to pursuant to Article 25.2 of the Labor Agreement
by and between the City of Bremerton and the General Teamster's Local 589.
The City desires to appoint who is a Teamster's Local 589 member the
duties of City Safety Officer, These duties have previously been performed by
Management and Professional staff. The City and the Union agree that assignment of
Safety Officer duties is at the sole discretion of the City and that the City can reassign
these duties at anytime. The employee may resign from the Safety Officer duties by
providing two weeks' notice. The City and the Union also agree that at the discretion of
the City the duties may be assigned to non-Bargaining Unit employees at anytime in the
future, The City agrees to pay 10% above his hourly base wage plus
any longevity for performing these additional duties.
The above agreement is non-precedent setting and shall not be deemed to bind any party
to take similar action in any subsequent matter. The remaining provisions of this
Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
