SUMMARY: The Public Works Department took advantage of the Marina Square project and
installed a new sewer force main and also installed a new, more direct discharge header in pump
station CE-4. This work required bypass pumping.
The Department arranged for bypass pumping with Xylem Inc. of Kent. The cost for the bypass
pumping was expected to be less than the Department's approval authority of$25,000. Complexities
encountered during the discharge header work have extended the need for the bypass pumping,
which was expected to cost $31,625.81; this amount and the Sole Source were approved by Council
on May 15, 2019.
Additional equipment rental and labor was needed, bringing the total cost to $40, 017.93.
ATTACHMENTS: 1) Invoices, 2) Original Agreement for charges
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Expenses for this work are budgeted for 2019 and
