CITY OF BREMERTON 6A
CITY COUNCIL
SUBJECT: Ordinance No. 5370 amending Study Session Date: June 12, 2019
Section 13.04.140 of the Bremerton COUNCIL MEETING Date: June 19, 2019
Municipal Code Relating to Liquor in City Department: Parks & Recreation
Parks Presenter: Jeff Elevado
Phone: (360) 473-5428
SUMMARY: Section 13.04.140 of the Bremerton Municipal Code under the Park Code currently
authorizes sale and consumption of liquor in designated City parks and Public Utility property during
special events. These include Harborside Fountain Park, Louis Mentor Boardwalk and Otto Jarstad
Park. Service and consumption must be permitted by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis
Board, is limited to beer and wine, and must be administered during an event or activity which is
licensed by the City as a special event or authorized by the City Council upon terms and conditions
as established by the City Council.
Increased demand for special events at parks suited for hosting such events and requests from event
organizers to provide for the sale and consumption of liquor within the park during these events has
prompted this request to amend BMC 13.04.140 to allow sale and consumption of liquor at additional
locations.
The proposed amendment will add Pendergast Regional Park, Evergreen Rotary Park, and Lions
Park to the list of designated parks in which service and consumption of liquor is authorized when all
requirements are met.
