HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/15/2019 5F AGENDA BILL CITY OF BREMERTON 5F CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: Set Annual Compensation for Study Session Date: May 8, 2019 Municipal Court Judge COUNCIL MEETING Date: May 15, 2019 Department: Municipal Court Presenter: Dawn Williams Phone: (360) 473-5242 SUMMARY: Pursuant to BMC 2.62.035(a), the Municipal Court Judge's salary is set by City Council action. The City is authorized to receive Trial Court Improvement grant money if the Judge's salary is set at 95% of the District Court Judge's Salary, effective July 1 of each year. That salary is set, by law, by the Washington Citizen's Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials. We are requesting to adjust the salary for the Judge to be effective July 1, 2019 to bring us into compliance with the grant conditions and allow us to continue to receive grant funding. Current salary $156,097.35, proposed new salary $172,753.70 as of July 1, 2019 and as of July 1, 2020 it will be $180,614.00 (these amounts include deferred compensation). ATTACHMENTS: Letter from the Administrative Office of the Courts regarding Salary Increase for Judges for 2019 and 2020. FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): For the 2019 budget cycle, the increase is $1,388.03 per month (total $8,328.17).
