This Memorandum of Understanding is agreed to pursuant to Article 19.2 of the Collective
Bargaining Agreement (C.B.A.) between the City of Bremerton ("City') and the International
Association of Fire Fighters Local #437 ("Union")
The purpose of this agreement is to establish contract language for the shift work schedule for
2019. Pursuant to 29 USC sec. 207(k) of the FLSA, the City of Bremerton and Union have
established a twenty-eight (28) day work period for shift personnel.
6.3 As of January 1, 2019, the Fire Chief shall assign shift personnel to one of three shifts: A, B
or C. Shift assignments shall work as follows;
• One (1) shift on duty followed by three days off duty
• Two (2) shifts on duty followed by three days off duty
• This pattern shall repeat itself throughout the calendar year. Every eighth (gtn)
scheduled shift shall be an off-duty Kelly Day.
• Shift hours begin at 0800 and end at 0800 hours each day.
This agreement is for a one year trial period. Either party reserves the right to revert back to
the prior schedule. Should either party desire to revert back to the prior schedule, they must
provide thirty (30) calendar days' notice of their intent to do so.
All other provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement apply in all respects.
