This Memorandum of Understanding is agreed to pursuant to Article 19.2 of the Collective
Bargaining Agreement(C.B.A.) between the City of Bremerton (City) and the International
Association of Fire Fighters Local #437(Union).
Provisional Appointment to a position outside of the Bargaining Unit
Members of the Bargaining Unit may be appointed to positions outside of the Bargaining Unit
provided that the following conditions are satisfied;
1) The member agrees to the appointment and is given the opportunity to fully consider
the position.
2) The City agrees to maintain all of the collective bargaining rights of the member for the
duration of the appointment.
3) The member's union dues and assessments are maintained throughout the
appointment.
4) The City agrees to resolve any disputes over interpretation or implementation of this
MOU through the Grievance Procedure specified in the current C.B.A.
5) A Member serving as the Provisional Fire Chief will be compensated at Rate 8
($13,120.82/month) of the City of Bremerton Management, Professional, Confidential
and Fiduciary Plan for 2018. This amount takes longevity into consideration; therefore,
longevity will not be calculated on top of the monthly salary listed above.
6) The Parties further agree that this Agreement is non -precedent setting due to the unique
nature of the circumstances surrounding this agreement, and shall not be deemed to bind
any party to take similar action in any subsequent matter.
This Agreement is effective as of November _ t , 2018. With the exception of Section 6
above the terms of this agreement expire at the end of the Fire Chief Provisional Appointment.
