SUMMARY: The City last week received the news that Ford is changing their police vehicle
program platform and all police orders for 2019 cars must be in by Sept. 1, 2018. Staff has identified
three cars that need to be replaced in 2019 and then an additional six cars need to be purchased for
adequate coverage for the vehicle take home program.
The total cost for the nine vehicles plus associated safety equipment per quotes is $546,344.19
including Washington State sales tax. We will be utilizing State Contract No. 05916.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The 2018 police personnel budget anticipates a
minimum savings of $440,000 due to vacancies. Staff is requesting a budget adjustment to reallocate
$440,000 from personnel to supplies and services as an equipment interfund charge; with an
additional $106,344.19 coming from ending fund balance within the General Fund. The total ERR
budget increase (Fund 510) is $546,344.19.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to approve purchase of nine Vehicles plus associated safety
equipment per quotes in the amount of $546,344.19 including Washington State sales tax. And
