SUMMARY: The action before Council is to conduct a Public Hearing and adopt an Ordinance
amending Bremerton Municipal Code (BMC) Title 20 related to providing flexibility for phased -in
mixed use development within the District Center Core (DCC) zone. In the DCC zone, any structure
containing a residential use which fronts a public street is currently required to provide a percentage
of the building linear frontage to be designed to accommodate pedestrian oriented uses that activate
the sidewalk, such as commercial or retail uses. The proposed flexibility allows the building to be
developed as any allowed use within the zone (including residential -only buildings) provided that a
percentage of ground -floor area is designed so it can easily be converted to a pedestrian oriented
use, such as commercial or retail use, at a future date. .
