Warren Avenue Neighborhood Park renovation is ranked as the top project in the Bremerton Parks, Recreation and Open Space Comprehensive Plan (PROS) adopted in 2014. The project concept was presented to the public at the January 23, 2018 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. A second public meeting was held at the site on May 22, 2018. The department conducted an interactive survey on the City's web site receiving public comment which was incorporated into the design. The "Youth Athletic Facilities" (YAF) Warren Avenue Park project includes: replacement of the failing sports field lighting system; accessibility improvements; new accessible restroom; new shelter and accessible parking. If funded the YAF grant will provide $350K towards the project and will be used as match for a second RCO Local Parks grant application. The "Local Parks" (LP) Warren Avenue Park project includes: accessible pathways, new accessible restroom, paved parking lot with accessible parking, children's playground, and new shelter. Warren Avenue is located in an underserved area which qualifies for a reduced match of 10%. Kitsap Lake Park is popular for boating and fishing throughout the year. The existing pathways and restroom do not meet current accessibility standards. The boat launch and fishing dock are failing and in need of replacement. If funded, the ALEA grant, administered by the Recreation and Conservation Office, will provide $398K towards the project which includes replacement of the failing fishing dock, improvements to accessibility including parking, pathways restroom upgrades and a new picnic shelter and children's play area.
