SUMMARY: This purchase is to replace volutes and impellers for the three ABS Pumps at pump
station CW -1 from the manufacturer vendor, Pump Tech Inc.
These replacement impellers and volutes last on average two years, due to wear and grit. Staff
requested a quote from Pump Tech Inc. for hardened (250-300 BHC) impellers and volutes, which
will increase the life of the impellers and volutes 8-10 years, on average.
The cost for the hardened impellers and volutes are doubled for the first set, due to the pattern and
casting costs. From that point on the costs drop in half, and we are paying the same price as
standard impellers and volutes.
The total cost to outfit all three ABS Pumps at pump station CW -1 with hardened impellers and
volutes is $94,772.74 including WA State Sales Tax.

Operating Supplies budget of $540,000.
