HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/07/2018 5IAGENDA BILL CITY OF BREMERTON CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: Purchase of a new Caterpillar Model 926M Wheel Loader from NC Machinery of Tukwila, WA for the Forestry Division Study Session Date: COUNCIL MEETING Date: Department: Presenter: 5I February 28, 2018 March 7, 2018 PW&U Milenka Hawkins -Bates Phone: (360) 473-5333 SUMMARY: The existing 1991 Caterpillar front-end loader for the Forestry Division ceased working at the end of 2017. Upon inspection it was determined that the engine had destroyed itself, by throwing a piston rod through the engine block. This equipment was purchased in 1991 and was due to be replaced in 2011, every year the equipment is reviewed for replacement. During the development of the 2018 Budget, the decision was made to keep it since it was performing well. This piece of equipment is utilized daily for loading Biosolids to apply in the watershed. It is also utilized within the pipe yard to load/unload pipe. We received a proposal from NC Machinery for the purchase of a new Caterpillar Model 926M for $176,552.75 utilizing NJPA Contract #032515 -CAT (includes Washington State Sales tax). This price also includes a 3.5 yard bucket and interchangeable forks, so that it can be utilized as a forklift. ATTACHMENTS: NC Machinery Quote FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): There will need to be a budget adjustment for the purchase of this piece of equipment. There is currently $200,000.00 in reserves (ending fund balance) Fund 510 for its replacement.
