SUMMARY: The approved 2018 budget shows purchase of a mini excavator for the Street
Residential Program. The equipment chosen is a Kubota mini excavator with enclosed cab. The
approved 2018.budget is $50,000; in reviewing our options, our staff recommended .for safety
purposes to enclose the cab which increased the price to $63,195.55. The equipment allows the
crew to work in small work spaces and not disturb as much ground as a larger excavator does. The
Mini Excavator that was rented in 2017 justified the need for purchase. The price includes
Washington State sales tax of 9%.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): $50,000 was budgeted in Fund 314 as an
interfund transfer for the purchase of the excavator in Fund 510. The additional cost of $13,195.55
will come from fund balance in Fund 314.

RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve the purchase of a 2018 Kubota Mini Excavator per State Contract in the amount of
$63,195.55 including Washington State sales tax and .increase the expenditure budget in the
Residential Street Fund 314 and ERR Fund 510 by $13,195.55.
